Sophie Vida Hugh is an artist based in London and Leeds.
Her practice navigates tensions between the stylised and the natural, blending a documentary approach to photography with editorial. The result is a body of work which is aesthetically pleasing yet unconventional. The photographs take on an uncanny quality which confuses as much as it comforts.

Sophie is interested in the mundane, exploring it within her photography as a space for play and performance. Sophie is influenced by contemporary photographers who embrace the uniqueness of humans in everyday contexts such as Wolfgang Tillmans, Martin Parr and Rineke Dijkstra.
