At the core of my practice is the idea of interconnectedness and I’m inspired by the innate
connection we have with the earth and all that is around us. Through abstract yet familiar forms, I explore internal and external anatomy with a particular interest in the shadows and indents of the body and flesh. I want to evoke a feeling of awe and discomfort, the kind of image that you find abnormal and slightly gross but you can’t stop analysing it. I often inspire my work by macabre images and I love to explore natural forms within particularly mold and fungi. The association of decay within fungi are perfect representations of the cycle of life and the connections we hold to the earth, with mycelium being a net of connections and the fact that fungi is life created out of decay.

I work primarily in oil paint and charcoal, delving into glue or plastic sculptures that emulate mycelia and slime mold with a metallic twist as a lot of my interests lie in the exploration of the western detachment from the earth and the environment.

Though I see my work through the lens of metaphysical connections, my work is ambiguous and I encourage an audience to engage in their own thoughts and perceptions and understand the work through their subconscious.
